Kristen Coogan is an Associate Professor of Art and Chair of Graduate Graphic Design at Boston University. She recently published the Design History Reader with Onomatopee, a volume that offers diverse perspectives on graphic design history by centering student voices. By foregrounding authentic experiences and lived histories, the Reader presents a broad spectrum of narratives that reflect both dominant and underrepresented cultures. As a practitioner, Coogan brings expertise in graphic and interior design, with work recognized by AIGA and Print magazine. She holds a BFA in Art + Design from North Carolina State University, an MA in Liberal Studies from Dartmouth College, and an MFA in Graphic Design from the California Institute of the Arts.
